More of Kentucky’s men and women are also headed overseas to fight the war on terror.
A group of Kentucky Air National Guardsmen left their Louisville base on July 5, 2007. Their mission is to assist soldiers on the ground in Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Africa.
“It’s a war and we’re defending our nation in peace and in war and I’m very proud of him and very supportive; and he will be home in a month so we’re excited about that,” said Tech Sgt. Heather Wood, wife of airman.
Sixty soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division in Ft. Campbell also left on the afternoon of July 5. Their mission will focus on transport operations in Iraq.
