Many candles were lit this weekend for a very special birthday cake in honor of an area woman who will soon turn 102.

Granny Ve, a resident at BHI assisted living in Russellville, is turning 102 on Wednesday and she enjoyed a birthday party Friday. Granny Ve has 24 grandchildren and great-grandchildren combined.

Family and friends said they admire her for her funny wit and wonderful dancing skills.
