The Kentucky House passes a bill that brings discipline to teens caught "sexting."

Youth sharing sexually explicit photos or videos by cell phone or the internet could be fined up to $100, and participate in community service for first-offense sexting.

Some teens across the country are now registered as sex offenders and charged with distributing child pornography as the result of sexting.

While those punishments can be harsh, one local principal says Kentucky's law would be a good balance.

"Those are really serious offenses that carry hard jail time and life long classification as a sex-offender and things like that, so we want to try to, I think the legislators are trying to find an in between spot of how to deal with teenagers, and how to send a message that you can't do this," said Gary Fields, the principal at Bowling Green High School.

He said sexting hasn't been a problem at his school, although you can't always know what teens are up to.

The measure now goes to the Senate.
