The state's tallest residence hall is getting a $9.5-million dollar makeover .
Pearce Ford Tower opened in 1971 and houses 860 men and women on 27-floors. The entire renovation will take three years to complete, but work has already begun this summer.
The university says the most notable change to students next month will be the lobby which is undergoing a complete transformation.
Also this summer, the second floor office and multipurpose area is being renovated. A new fire alarm system will be added throughout the building as well.
Later this year, a 3,000-square-foot convenience store/restaurant will be added to the first floor.
Renovations to bedrooms, bathrooms and the multipurpose area on the 27th floor will be renovated during the next three summers.
