The fate of a million dollar mandolin is up in the air. Recently there's been a fight over who will retain the rights to the mandolin that once belonged to Bluegrass legend Bill Monroe.
Bill Monroe's son, James, who owns the mandolin, is suing the Bill Monroe Foundation. He claims the Foundation has not paid him the money they owe for the mandolin. He hopes to void a contract he originally signed into with the Foundation. But the foundation says they did have the money but have had problems with bank loans.
The Foundation claims they will have the money within the next two weeks, and they hope to get the mandolin back to Rosine where Monroe grew up. But Monroe's son says he's tired of waiting for the money after nearly two years. The trial was scheduled for July 12 and 13 but was postponed.
