The American Red Cross sponsored a blood drive today at Butler County High.

This blood drive was a little different.

Today the blood drive was in honor of two students who suffer from life threatening illnesses, Raven Durbin, 16, and Robert Cunningham, 15.

Both students require blood transfusions on a daily basis.

The American Red Cross Donor Recruitment Representative Michelle Mangum says donating blood saves lives.

"Realize that when you donate blood, you are helping to save a life. Because you can help save up to three lives by donating blood. And its only an hour out of your day just to help those three lives that are in the hospital," she said.

If you would like to become a blood donor at the American Red Cross you can schedule appointments online at www.redcrossblood.org.
