Members of the North Dakota National Guard were on hand in Fargo today to help protect homes from flood waters.
The troops helped build dikes, some up to 40 feet.
For some residents there's a sense of deja vu.
Just last year the Red River crested its bank twice and turned neighborhoods into lakes.
"I told my wife I could do one more flood fight and here it is already. I didn't expect it this year, but now I probably have one more in me," said resident Keith Burck.
Tomorrow troops from the Minnesota National Guard will arrive to help buile more dikes.
The Red River is expected to crest on Saturday.
