UPDATE: 9 Girls Escape from Youth Academy in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Department of Children's Services says all nine girls who escaped from a privately-run treatment center have been apprehended.

The teens escaped early Wednesday from the G4S Academy for Young Women, which is on the campus of Clover Bottom Development Center in Nashville.

Department spokesman Rob Johnson told The Tennessean the academy is run by G4S — a private, for-profit company that also operates the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center. The teens housed there are state wards.

The newspaper reported the academy is a 24-bed residential program for girls, ages 13 to 18. It offers mental health and substance abuse treatment.


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Nashville are searching for three girls who were among nine who escaped from the Youth Academy.

The juveniles bolted from the academy at Clover Bottom Development Center on the city's east side at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Six of them were caught and taken to a juvenile detention center.
