It's a family tradition they wouldn't miss for anything.

Vera Willoughby is the matriarch of the Willoughby family. She says, "We've raised three daughters of our own, and they grew up in the barn, and now we have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and they are all being raised in the barn."

Brenda Chandler is one of Willoughby's daughters. She says, "I was born in '64 and brought up here. Daddy laid us between bales of straw to take care of the cows and I haven't missed a year since."

Now Brenda Chandler's ten-year-old daughter, Abbey, is joining the family tradition.

Abbey Chandler says, "This year I'm showing cattle and I've already showed once today and I'll probably show again this afternoon. How'd you do? I got sixth."

The Willoughby family has been coming to Kentucky State Fair for so long they received a special recognition.

Linda Blankenship is another Willoughby daughter. She says, "They were awarded as some of the longest exhibitors at the state fair and they got a plaque two years ago."

Clay Bishop is the youngest member of the family and a bit camera shy. He attended his first state fair when he was just three-weeks-old. His second cousin, Abbey, went to her first fair when she was one month old. This is her first year competing in the 4-H junior calf division.

Abbey says, "It makes me feel, sometimes I'm nervous when I show different places. Most the time I'm just ready to go."

The family says she is one of the reasons they keep coming back.

Linda says, "Letting all the children and grandchildren come up here and exhibit and be with mom and dad."

And they say the state fair is worth every minute of it.

Brenda says, "We're fortunate in Kentucky. Our state fair is one of the best fairs in the country."
