Newspaper: Beshear's Law Firm Underwent Ethics Investigation

The gubernatorial election is six weeks away and the candidates continue to hit the campaign trail.

Now a newspaper is reporting that Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Beshear's law firm was the subject of an ethics investigation 12 years ago.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the probe was over the collapse of the Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company.

The report says the investigation looked into whether Stites and Harbison violated any duty or rules of ethical conduct when it signed on to lead the liquidation of the insurance company.

Spokeswoman of the Beshear Campaign, Vicki Glass, said Beshear wasn't aware of the investigation but would favor releasing the results.
