Two Students Still Hospitalized with E.coli

Two Logan County Kindergarten students remain hospitalized with E.coli.

Auburn Elementary School has two students with the illness and both are listed in stable condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

One was recently moved out of intensive care.

So far, E.coli has only been confirmed by Vanderbilt officials, not the Barren River District Health Dept.

The school has not been able to determine what caused the illness, but workers have disinfected areas used by the students.

A letter went home to parents on Sept. 13, notifying them of the situation.

School officials maintain they are not jeopardizing anyone's safety by keeping school open.

Meanwhile, health department officials are reminding parents the number one protection from any illness is being vigilant about hand-washing.
