This season, the Warren County Football League has more participants than ever before. Nearly 800 children, ages six to 12, are taking to the field.

Phil Moore, director of Warren County Parks and Recreation, says the tremendous growth this year far exceeded his expectations.

"Football is alive and vibrant for a number of reasons. One is because local high school football teams are thriving and another is because of Western Kentucky University's success."

Moore says more parents are getting involved too. The rise in participation means more equipment and supplies are needed like helmets, jerseys, pants and pads. In years past, the league has relied on fundraising to cover those costs.

This season, the football fee for participants increased to $65, a price some consider too high, but Moore believes it's a small price to pay, considering the player's gear can cost up to a few hundred dollars.

Many parents agree. "You can't put a price on the experience your child gets from this league."
