FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Agricultural Development Board has approved $2.2 million for a variety of economic diversification projects to help farmers.

That includes $2 million to build a regional port in Brandenburg to provide a more economical way of storing, sorting, processing and exporting Kentucky-grown products.

The board also awarded $75,000 to the Kentucky Association of Food Banks for a program that gets produce that might not otherwise be sold into the hands of the needy through a network of local food banks.

Among several other smaller projects, the Henry County Cattlemen's Association was approved for $1,750 to conduct a study into the feasibility of a regional meat processing facility.
