Members of an Amish family are in the hospital after an accident Wednesday morning in Barren County.
Five people were involved in the crash, including four from the Amish family and the driver of the car.
The Barren County Sheriff's Department says Deborah Edwards, 55, hit the horse and buggy from behind.
She told police the morning sun was in her eyes, and she did not see the horse and buggy.
The driver of the buggy, Mary Yoder, 27, and two of her children were taken to a local hospital for injuries.
Her other child, Reuben, six, was life flighted to Kosair Children's Hospital.
The horse was euthanized because of severe injuries.
Nearby residents say they could hear the crash, and that highway 1297 is a heavily traveled road by horse and buggies.
Police want to remind drivers to be more cautious, especially now that school is back in session.
