"Everybody kept saying that he had committed suicide, and the whole time we kept our prayers, knowing that he wouldn't do it. We are finally glad that this thing has come to and end and found out what really happened to Brandon," Spradlin says.

A unexpected arrest has been made in a death investigation from a year ago.

When teenager Brandon Crain went missing from the apartment he shares with his mom last January, those who knew him say something wasn't right.

Around 2 AM on January 26th of last year was the last time Crain was seen.

Around this time a year ago, his body was found in the Green River in Butler County.

At the time officials believed there was no foul play, but those close to Crain are glad there are finally answers.

"Brandon kept to himself. He was a good, loving person," says Steve Spradlin, manager of the apartments Brandon lived in.

Spradlin has lived next-door to Crain and his mom for several years.

He was notified Saturday night about the arrest in connection to Crain's death.

Police charged 19-year-old Daniel Hostetler of Metcalfe County with 1st degree manslaughter.

Days ago, the Hart County Sheriff's Department received a tip from a Flemingsburg Police Officer, which led them to Hostetler.

Until that point, there were no suspects in the case.

"They bullied him over his sexually, they called him gay from third grade on," said Crain's sister, Vanessa Moldon last year.

When his body was found several counties away months after he went missing, police didn't suspect anyone of foul play.

"Now, finally, we do have closure in the neighborhood that it was wasn't a suicide, and I'm happy for the family and friends and everybody in the neighborhood that actually knows now the true story of it," says Jason Fields, a neighbor of Crain's.

"Everybody kept saying that he had committed suicide, and the whole time we kept our prayers, knowing that he wouldn't do it. We are finally glad that this thing has come to and end and found out what really happened to Brandon," Spradlin says.

Last year, for a few months, the Munfordville community was on a massive manhunt for Crain.

"We was just concerned. It's a small neighborhood, quiet. Nothing has ever happened like this, and everybody just went out looking for him and nothing happened," Fields says.

"We found out last night that they did get a confession, and the boy did kill Brandon and murder him and that was a big relief in our hearts and our prayers were answered and finally came true," Spradlin says.

Daniel Hostetler will be arraigned on his manslaughter charges in court in Hart County Monday morning.
