MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (AP) — An eastern Kentucky man's attempted escape didn't get very far.
Police say 34-year-old Harold Dewayne Hensley of Miracle bolted from a Bell County District Courtroom on Wednesday after a judge held him in contempt for resisting an order.
Media reported that Hensley ran from Judge Robert Yoakum's courtroom and down a flight of stairs. Bell County Chief Deputy David Cornelius says another deputy caught up to Hensley a moment later before he could get out of the stairwell.
Hensley was in court on a warrant for theft over $500 involving the theft of a vehicle.
Hensley was being held in the detention center. Jail records did not list an attorney for him.
