BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- A group of fraternity brothers from Western Kentucky University is biking across the country this summer in hopes of raising $100,000 for Alzheimer's disease research.

Their journey started May 24th in San Diego, and they'll cover nine states total.

They said it's been a difficult ride at times -- some of them didn't even own a bike before deciding to participate in Bike4Alz.

However, they said it's also been a lot of fun, and they feel good creating awareness about a serious disease.

"I've met with people and talked with people just hearing how terrible of a disease Alzheimer's is. That's been a huge motivation to keep pushing through it. Even though we've been tired and not in shape for it -- meeting people and seeing how much they've been hurt by it has been great motivation to keep pushing through," said Seth Haga, one of the bikers.

The bikers were in Bowling Green Sunday afternoon for a meet-and-greet to talk about their journey and hear stories from people in the area.

They will continue to travel across the state through July 8th.
