A boat explosion leaves investigators without answers.

Last night around eight-o-clock on barren river lake near Mason Island a houseboat exploded.

When the fire started, officers say the boat was tied further down the island and drifted to this location.

Thankfully, no one was on board and no one was injured.

"Witnesses stated that there was an axplosion and then the houseboat went up in flames. After they left the lake they went and interviewed the persons that Owned the boat and everyone was fine-- no injuries," says Officer Joshua Avery with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Officers say that the explosion is under investigation.

The cause has yet to be determined
