UPDATE: As of noon Thursday, downtown has been cleared by police. Monroe County Schools will continue regular session. All after school activities are canceled.

At approximately 8:20 a.m. CDT Thursday, KSP received a call from Monroe County dispatch that a bomb threat had been called in to Tompkinsville Elementary School and the Monroe County Attorney's office.

The caller advised that the bombs were set to detonate in 15 minutes from the time of the call. No detonation occurred.

Additional bomb threats were called in to Sonic and McDonald's Restaurants and to the local WalMart in Tompkinsville, all of which have been cleared of threats, along with the downtown area.

KSP says the public should recognize there may be significant delays in regard to local traffic and are asked to avoid, if possible, the potential threat areas. Troopers and Detectives from Post 15, along with KSP K-9 Units are investigating.
