Warren County Sheriff, Jerry “Peanuts” Gaines announced Wednesday that Captain Joe Jakub and the “CrimeFighter Corvette” of the Sheriff’s Anti-Crime unit was selected to lead a contingent of Law Enforcement Officers in a Memorial Procession in Washington, DC.
This somber procession draws thousands of police officers and their families from all over the country and is the opening event for “National Police Week” honoring all the law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in 2012.
The procession takes place on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, and starts at the D.C. National Guard Amory and winds through the streets of Washington, passing the Capitol, White House, and several other landmarks ending up at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial where Captain Jakub will participate in a Wreath Laying ceremony.
At the conclusion of the procession, as a lead unit, Captain Jakub will be one of the keynote speakers on the National Memorial dais along with several other Washington dignitaries.
Sheriff Gaines stated “It is a real honor for Warren County and our Department to have Captain Jakub selected from all the officers across the Country to lead and speak at this national law enforcement event in Washington.”
