BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Police in Bowling Green say someone emptied out four cash registers at a Macy's in a crime with similarities to a theft at the same chain in Tennessee.

Officer Marc Kaiser wrote in a report that all four registers at the Greenwood Mall location had been emptied Sunday afternoon except for $1 bills and change. Employees at the store conducted an inventory of the registers after learning of the theft of cash at a Macy's in Nashville's Rivergate Mall.

Officer Ronnie Ward told the media that investigators do not know the exact amount taken from the store, but it appears to be more than $1,000.

Kaiser wrote that it appears the registers were accessed by a master key.

Ward said that no new information had emerged in the investigation.
