Comer Talks Governor's Race; Doesn't Confirm Running Mate Yet

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Agriculture Commissioner James Comer announced he's running for Governor at Fancy Farm this year, but he hasn't said who his running mate will be.

Several names have been circulating in media outlets as possibilities including northern Kentucky state Sen. Chris McDaniel.

After speaking to the Kentucky Leadership class in Bowling Green, Comer wouldn't confirm who his running mate would be, but he spoke very highly of McDaniel.

"On September the 9th, I will tell the world who my running mate is because that will be the day we officially launch the campaign. I'll say this about Sen. McDaniel, I'm a big fan of his. He has had huge success in the private sector with his business that he has started and has grown. He has also in my opinion proven to be one of the smartest guys if not the smartest guy in Frankfort. He's passionate about finding waste, fraud and abuse in state government and I think that's something the next administration is going to have to take very seriously," said James Comer, republican candidate for Governor.

As Comer alluded to he will officially kick off his campaign on September 9th, in his hometown of Tompkinsville.

WBKO will have extensive coverage of that event. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
