Commissioner of Agriculture Visits Franklin

Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture, James Comer stopped in Franklin Thursday at the Boys and Girls Club to check in on a garden program started by the students who go there. 35 students participated in growing various crops throughout the year before selling them at a local farmer's market.

"The Franklin project should be a role model for the rest of the state. This is something Senator (Rand) Paul and I have talked about; Having more community gardens at Boys and Girls Clubs in the Louisville area, and the Lexington area. I wanted to come here to talk to the young people, and see what they've done here."

The group has used two sites to grow their produce this year. Officials at the Boys and Girls Club said they expect more students to join in next year.
