Counterfeit Money Circulates Through Local Businesses

Updated: Fri 3:40 AM, Oct 19, 2012

Businesses like JC Penney's and Kohl's have been subject to this fake money. Those aren't the only places the bills have been reported showing up.

22 year old Brandon Farmer was arrested after one person reported receiving counterfeit money during an online business transaction.

Police say the seller realized the bills were fake when they tried to buy gas and groceries with them. The seller then set up another transaction with Farmer, and this time called the police. Police arrested farmer, who had some counterfeit bills in his possession at the time.

Now police want anyone with information regarding any of these reports to help.

"If anyone has any information in regards to who could be printing this money, we certainly would like to know that information since this isn't a crime that just effects one person. It effects our community as a whole," said Bowling Green Police Officer Ronnie Ward.

Farmer is the only arrest made related to the online sale at this time but police are continuing to investigate all of these counterfeit crimes to see if they could be linked.
