HAZARD, Ky. (AP) -- Perry County school officials are cleaning up Big Creek Elementary School after flash flooding.
Heavy rainfall Monday night brought Big Creek out of its banks and put as much as 3 1/2 feet of water into the school building.
Crews are cleaning mud from the building. A kindergarten building next the school was destroyed by the flooding, but Principal Jeff Castle said officials had previously decided not to use the building in the coming academic year.
