BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Many travelers are heading back from Independence Day vacations.

Kentucky State Police say the 4th of July travel period lasts until midnight Sunday, and it's one of the busiest travel times of the year.

We spoke with folks traveling from all over who say they hadn't encountered many problems on I-65.

Most say there weren't any wrecks during their travels, and many officers were out keeping the interstate safe.

"Tennessee -- it slowed up in Tennessee was down there somewhere, but it's lifted back up. So we're rolling good," said Gregory Collins, who was traveling through Kentucky today.

KSP says Kentucky ended last year with the lowest number of highway fatalities since 1947 -- a trend that looks like will continue this year.
