Earthquake Hits Eastern Kentucky

The Kentucky Geological Survey estimated the quake at about 6:00 a.m. Monday as a magnitude 2.7.

OWINGSVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) -- An eastern Kentucky county felt the rumblings of a small earthquake, but officials say the trembler produced no damage to the rural area.

The Kentucky Geological Survey estimated the quake at about 6:00 a.m. Monday as a magnitude 2.7.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports the disturbance was centered near the Sharpsburg area. Officials report that this type of event is relatively minor.

About 17 quakes have been identified in the area over the years.
