BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Less than two weeks remain until the April 15 deadline to file taxes.

Tax services say the next couple of weeks are the busiest time period because many people wait until the last minute. For those filing on their own experts recommend being organized and thorough. Also, having the right paperwork on hand can help you get the most money back from your return.

"The government has incentives for us by doing certain things by giving us a tax break and we want to take advantage of those. You obviously don't want to do anything outside of the strict letter of the law. But really being informed is the best way to maximize your deduction, " says Financial Planner Jeanne Fisher.

Fisher warns if you are looking for deductions make sure you have a receipt to prove it. She says it will save you down the road if you are ever audited.
