HARDINSBURG, Ky. (AP) -- A former Kentucky sheriff has been found safe four days after he disappeared from his family's home.
Searchers found 89-year-old Robert E. "Bobby" Haynes on Monday inside his pickup truck on a farm near his home.
Breckinridge County Emergency Management Director Marty Moore says Haynes was dehydrated and hungry but otherwise in good shape. He was being examined at a local hospital.
Moore says the family suspected that Haynes would not leave his truck if he got lost.
Haynes, who served as Breckinridge County sheriff in the early 1980s, is suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
Officials issued a Golden Alert on Thursday after Haynes disappeared. He was last seen driving his red Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.
