FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Republicans are continuing efforts to link Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes to President Barack Obama.
This time it's the GOP group Kentuckians for Strong Leadership running a new TV ad calling Grimes a rubberstamp for Obama.
The ad shows footage of an interview from Grimes' 2011 Secretary of State race in which she says she supports the national Democratic Party platform. An announcer in the 30-second spot charges that that platform includes "Obamacare" and a "war on coal." The $270,000 ad buy began Friday, a day after Grimes told reporters she disagrees with Obama's coal policies and that she's particularly concerned about how the health care reforms will affect small businesses.
Grimes is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell in next year's election.
