Gas prices in Kentucky jump 22 cents this week too an average of $3.48 per gallon. AAA reports the average for a gallon of unleaded gas in Bowling Green was $3.47.

The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is three-dollars and 53 cents. One consumer says he spent ten dollars on gas today... And that money isn't going as far as it used to.

"Usually I could get to Nashville on ten bucks...there and back. With the gas prices now, I have to put in 20 bucks to get there and back," said gasoline buyer Steven Tat.

Prices around the country have increased due to escalating oil prices, refinery issues, and the preparation to switch over to a summer blend.

Tat says his car's fuel efficiency allows him to keep costs as low as possible.
