Girls' Day Out Event Promotes Local Businesses

The 4th Annual Girls' Day Out was in Bowling Green on Saturday.

The event director said it's a way to promote local businesses and sales people -- and an excuse for women to get out and shop.

It was at the Sloan Convention Center this year, and organizers said the first year, only eight vendors were there. However, this year, it's grown to 90 vendors.

"Jewelry, women's clothing, children's clothing, snacks, treats -- unique items that you're not going to see unless you come to Girls' Day Out... Just getting women with small businesses together and letting them get out here and show their products and businesses and make new friends and get their names out there pretty much," said Danielle Wilson, the event director.

Wilson said twice as many people as last year attended the free event Saturday, and it's held twice a year.
