BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Tails were wagging Saturday as it was the grand opening for PetSmart in Bowling Green at 2300 Gary Farms BLVD.

The dogs were all smiles -- as much as they can smile -- as they walked around the store making new canine friends and getting new treats and toys.

The pet lovers there were entered into drawings for giveaways and got free t-shirts.

The manager hopes the store will help reduce euthanasia numbers.

"We are lucky enough to get to work with the Bowling Green Humane Society. They're a wonderful organization and they adopted out almost 7,000 animals last year. So we have an adoption center set up in our store. Seven days a week you can adopt cats, and then they bring dogs out randomly throughout the week and then on weekends," said manager, Christy Smith. "We set up a goal with them to adopt out 700 pets from our doors this year that they've had in."

The store brought 25 new jobs to Bowling Green and they still have groomer positions available.
