Police are investigating after a visitor at a western Kentucky cemetery discovered 40 headstones vandalized.
Cemetery caretaker Jason Hancock told the Kentucky New Era that the vandalism occurred between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.
Hancock said an employee of Hopkinsville Monument Company made the discovery when visiting Rosedale Cemetery in Pembroke to set up a monument and called him to report it.
Hancock said several headstones were pushed off their bases. He said some can likely be repaired, but he isn't sure about others -- especially older stones that date back to the 1800s.
He reported the damage to the Christian County Sheriff's Office, which has begun an investigation.
