Henderson Seeks Another Term As Judge Executive

 Henderson was first elected as judge/executive in 1998. At that time he was the youngest serving judge/executive in Kentucky and is the first Republican elected to the post in Simpson County.  

SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky (WBKO) -- Simpson County Judge/Executive Jim Henderson has declared his intentions to seek another term as County government’s Chief Elected Officer.

Henderson was first elected as judge/executive in 1998. At that time he was the youngest serving judge/executive in Kentucky and is the first Republican elected to the post in Simpson County.

In December, Henderson was selected to become the 2014 President of the Kentucky County Judge/Executive’s Association (KCJEA). Judge Henderson has served on the KCJEA Executive Board for 8 years and has been a member of its Legislative Committee for 12 years.

He was also recently elected as 2nd Vice President of the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACO) at its Annual Conference in Louisville in November. Judge Henderson is also a member of KACO’s Executive Board and serves on its 2014 Legislative Committee, as well as the KACO Financial Advisors Board of Directors.

Henderson’s past service includes Chairman of the Barren River Area Development District (BRADD) from 2011-2013, Chairman of the Barren River District Board of Health, and 4 years as Treasurer for the Community Action Agency of Southern Kentucky.

He also previously served on Kentucky’s Judicial Facilities Standards Committee after being appointed by then-Governor Ernie Fletcher. He also represented the County Judge/Executive’s Association on the Kentucky Jail Standards Commission for 4 years.

In 2012, Henderson was recommended by Sen. Mitch McConnell for a Presidential appointment to serve on the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation Board of Trustees. He was subsequently nominated and confirmed to the post in August of 2012. The Board meets annually in Washington DC. Judge Henderson serves on the Truman Finalist Selection Panel for students from Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi & Arkansas.

Locally, Judge Henderson serves on the Franklin-Simpson Industrial Authority Board, the F-S Chamber of Commerce Board, the Simpson County Extension District Board, and the Simpson County Board of Public Health.

Judge Henderson received his Bachelor’s Degree from Western Kentucky University in 1992 and is a 1988 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School.

A life-long resident of Simpson County, Judge Henderson has been married for 22 years to his high school sweetheart, the former Karen Creasy. They have 3 children: a son, Jordan, 20, an electrician with Miles Farms, a daughter, Rachel, 16, a Junior at Franklin-Simpson High School, and a son, Zach, 12, a 7th grader at F-S Middle School.

Henderson lives on and operates a small beef cattle farm in east Simpson County and is a member of the Franklin First Baptist Church.
