BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) --One of the biggest charity fundraisers in our area is just around the corner, and tonight it kicked off with the Ronnie Dunn and Friends Holiday Bash Concert. Some of the performers earlier in the day as they learned more about the community they're helping.

Thursday night's concert featured Parmalee, Brett Eldredge, and of course, Ronnie Dunn. Dunn and Eldredge say doing concerts like these are an important part of their jobs.

"My favorite thing in the world is to sing songs and be able to help somebody. To be in that limelight and help out, that's I think the most important part of my job," said Brett Eldredge.

Before the concert began, the stars were in town getting to know the people who will benefit from the concert's proceeds.

"I'm here at the Red Cross today, and you notice people are needing help everyday.. every minute... every hour of the day, and the Red Cross here today is always there to help, so it's pretty cool to learn all about it," said Eldredge.

Dunn says he's been back to visit several of the charitable organizations since last year.

"Saw the Boys and Girls Clubs, and went to three or four other places and got to see first hand the things I didn't see last year, and gosh I'll come back until you're through with me, and finished. It was really fun," said Ronnie Dunn.

One Red Cross official says their generosity doesn't go unnoticed.

"It's great that these gentleman care so much about this organization and this cause, and do this for not only the Red Cross but all of the other organizations here locally that benefit so many people in this area," said South Central Kentucky Red Cross Board Director Joe Morel.

Dunn says he plans to return for Holiday Bash this year.

"I think so. I think I'm in for the long run on this. Yeah, I will. I'll be here."

Not only that, he says he wants to continue doing the concerts and being part of the event as long as he can. If you missed out on tonight's concert, there still plenty of Holiday Bash events in the coming month. In fact, there is still one online auction underway with things like trips and autographed memorabilia up for bid.

The auction ends on Monday, November 18 at 11:59 a.m. central time.
