Indiana State Fair Improves Public Safety

The Indiana State Fair has hired two new executives to oversee the implementation of its new public safety protocol in the wake of last year's deadly stage rigging collapse.

David Shaw, who has a history in outdoor amphitheater management, has been named state fair commission chief operating officer.

Jessie Olzera, a veteran officer with the Indianapolis Police Department, has been named the emergency operations officer.

Fair officials said this year's fair won't be bubble wrapped, but it will be the safest it has ever been.

Seven people were killed and dozens more injured when the rigging above the main stage collapsed as fans waited for Sugarland to perform at last year's fair.
