On April 1, at approximately 11:13 pm, Kentucky State Police say it received the report of a vehicle off of the right hand side of the roadway, near the 51.8 mile marker, in the northbound lanes of I-65.
Upon arrival, troopers say they discovered a semi had ran off of the roadway and overturned.
Preliminary investigation shows that William E. Essex, 40, of Hillsboro, TN was operating a 2013 Freightliner, owned by K&B Transportation northbound on I-65, when for an unknown reason, he exited the right hand side of the roadway and struck the guardrail face
Essex then traveled approximately 80 feet along the guardrail face, then went over the guardrail.
The tractor trailer then traveled down an embankment and overturned and continued sliding down the embankment.
The tractor trailer came to a final rest on its right side.
Essex was transported to the Caverna Memorial Hospital by the Barren-Metcalfe EMS, where he was treated for non- life threatening injuries.
