UK Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart sent a letter out yesterday addressed to the Big Blue Nation saying Head Football Coach Joker Phillips has been fired.

Not only has Coach Phillips been an asset for the UK Football Program for the past 22 years, he's also given back to the place his football career began.

Franklin-Simpson High School Principal Tim Schlosser says Joker has come back to Franklin every summer to conduct a camp for the high school football team.

"A lot of times people forget where they come from when they have success and Joker Phillips never did that," he says, "He's a tremendous role model, not only for people across the State of Kentucky, but for the people here in Franklin and Simpson County."

Joker will finish the rest of this season as head coach.
