FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Franklin County Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd listened to more than four hours of arguments in a hearing Monday.
Shepherd had issued a temporary restraining order last week that pushed the filing deadline to the close of business on Tuesday. He said he may extend that restraining order if necessary.
Attorneys for lawmakers who were negatively affected in a contentious redistricting battle asked for an injunction that would keep things on hold until the constitutionality issue is decided.
Kentucky's Democratic-controlled House and the Republican-dominated Senate have arranged legislative districts that lawmakers in the minority claimed to be unconstitutional.
