Kentucky Bear Hunting Season

The new bear season for archery/crossbow for 2013 opens Saturday, November 23rd.

According to Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, the season lasts for nine days, or until the quota of 10 bears of five female bears is met.

Several changes to the 2013 bear season were made this year. An expansion was approved of the Bear Zone from 4 to 16 counties. The counties include Bell, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Knott, Knox, Laurel, Leslie, Letcher, Martin, McCreary, Perry, Pike, Pulaski, Wayne, and Whitley counties. Bears shall only be hunted within the Bear Zone.

You can get your bear permit for $30. Kentucky Fish & Wildlife says bear numbers are increasing in eastern Kentucky.

All harvested bears must be telechecked by calling 1 (800) 245-4263 by midnight on the day the animal is recovered.
