FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin stopped to campaign at the state Capitol on Friday, but no one was there to see him.

The Louisville businessman answered questions from a few reporters before finding an enthusiastic group of school children to speak with as they were touring the Capitol. He asked the kids who voters should choose on Tuesday. One answered: "Somebody!"

Bevin insisted he will defeat Sen. Mitch McConnell on Tuesday, despite the most recent polls show him trailing the Senate Republican leader by 32 percentage points. Bevin has refused to sign a pledge to support whoever wins Tuesday's Republican primary. Democrats say that shows Republicans are divided. But Bevin said he has never supported a Democrat, and he would not support likely Democratic nominee Alison Lundergan Grimes.
