BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Early Friday morning at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce's monthly coffee hour, students from both city and county school's took over the meeting.

They announced donations to the Leader in ME program.

The program is based on "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People."

It helps students achieve higher academics and have fewer discipline problems.

The coordinator says today is a great example of seeing the fruit of all the hard work.

"To be able to bring it into bowling green to get the foundation work laid for this to all take place and then to see he community, the business, the industries and the individuals that have donated all of this money in order for us to get this implemented into all the schools," said Jennifer Shahan.

AT&T awarded the program a $15,000 grant and Stewart Richie donated $30,000. Both donations will help with the overall goal of $1.6 million.

And they're not far off, standing at a little more than $1.2 million.
