LEXINGTON, KY. (AP) -- A couple is facing charges for leaving their infant in a hot car while the father got a haircut.

London police arrested Robert Smallwood and his wife, Rachel, on Monday and charged them with criminal abuse and wanton endangerment.

Investigators said while Robert Smallwood was getting a haircut, a couple walking by the Smallwoods' car heard the 8-month-old crying and opened an unlocked door to retrieve the child. The temperature outside was about 80 degrees.

Police say the baby is fine and is staying with grandparents.
