"It's definitely generated a ton of internet buzz. A lot of interest. Pictures floating around and people want to come to Bowling Green to see that new car and catch a glimpse of it," says Frassinelli.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Local tourist attractions are hopeful summer brings a little more sun. Above average rainfall this spring closed boat tours at Lost River Cave due to flooding.

"Its been a tough time for Lost River Cave. We are very careful to budget each and every year for the months that we are going to be expecting rain," says Executive Director Rho Lansden.

But this Memorial Day weekend activity is beginning to pick up. Water has receded and boat tours are back open.

Plenty of kids are also discovering the new Nature Explore outdoor classroom. It's a project Lost River Cave says has been years in the making.

"Very excited to see that the community has already discovered the activities that are here in the outdoor classroom. If you look around there are no plastic toys. We want children to unplug and reconnect with the things that are natural in this world," says Lansden.

Other local attractions are also banking on a successful summer season. The National Corvette Museum says this weekend is one they have circled on their calendar.

"Our admissions definitely start picking up starting Memorial Day weekend and then in the summer we get a lot of tourists passing through on their way," says Marketing and Communications Manager Katie Frassinelli.

The museum expects an even busier tourism season with the excitement surrounding the new C7 Stingray.

"It's definitely generated a ton of internet buzz. A lot of interest. Pictures floating around and people want to come to Bowling Green to see that new car and catch a glimpse of it," says Frassinelli.

For those who have yet to see the new ride, officials say expect to see a few cruising around town this summer.

The National Corvette Museum also plans to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Corvette on June 27 and 28. The weekend will include a ground breaking the NCM Motorsports Park.
