It's the time of the year for more shopping as the season has changed and holidays approach.
Big box stores like Walmart and Target are planning to hire more workers for the busy shopping season, but it doesn't stop there.
Local business owners often see more shoppers coming into their stores as well.
The owner of Pappagallo in Bowling Green said she's already looking to increase her staff.
"It's going to be a strong season. So far, we're really excited, because we've had an increase for August and September both. So we're hoping to finish strong and it will continue. But we'll see what happens," said Nicki Smith.
She said local businesses offer a more personal experience -- gift wrapping and easier returns. She said that's probably why more folks tend to come into her store this time of year.
