We'll have more on how they're gearing up for the final weeks before the election on WBKO at 6.

With less than a month until November's election, local Democratic and Republican headquarters are out in full swing trying to get your votes, but they say the first step is making it to the polls.

"To not only support our ticket, but to be sure to go to the poles and vote, because it doesn't matter if you support if you don't vote," said Warren County Democrats' Wilma Grise.

Both parties are competing for those votes in key races.

"We're certainly helping out with Romney, and Congressman Guthrie I think we're very confident in, so we're really putting our energy and resources into helping Regina," said Warren County Republicans Chair Scott Lasley.

That 20th district race in the House between democratic incumbent Jody Richards and Republican challenger Regina Webb seems to be a heated one for republicans who hope to gain control of the state house.

"You know, the Republicans here in Kentucky have a real shot to take over the state House, and if they are to do that, Regina Webb is a key part in that," said Warren County Republicans' Timothy Gilliam.

Democrats know the importance of that race, and are doing what they can to ensure Rep. Richards is re-elected.

"We have signs for Jody Richards. We have signs for Barack Obama. And also Cedric Burnam who is running for Constable," said Michelle Thomas, Warren County Democrats.

Both party headquarters are looking for more volunteers.

"Today I called Western Kentucky students about volunteering because we need their energy," said Elinor Kline, Warren County Democrats.
"We're trying to get together an army of volunteers to help as much as possible," said Lasley.

With just under three weeks left until the election, both parties are hoping those volunteers keep coming in.
