Local Legislators Give Update on Session in Frankfort

"Redistricting needs to be done very soon. I indicated here today the most likely time would be in the first five days of the 14 session," says Rep. Wilson Stone.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Area legislators took time Monday to update business leaders about their work in Frankfort.

Representative Jim Decesare and Wilson Stone along with Senator Mike Wilson were at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce for the annual legislative update.

All 3 legislators agreed this session was one of the most productive in recent memory. Major bills like pension reform, human trafficking laws, legalization of industrial hemp and raising the drop-out age were all passed.

While it was a successful session some still left Frankfort with unfinished business.

"Legislators had a will to get as much done as possible this session and do it in a bipartisan fashion. If that ment coming to the table and compromising on important issues like pension reform they were going to do that," says Rep. Jim Decesare

"There were a lot of things out there that were huge for us. There was more bills filed for us. It seemed like a long session. We have 600 bills filed. That's a lot for a 30 day session," says Sen. Mike Wilson.

"Redistricting needs to be done very soon. I indicated here today the most likely time would be in the first five days of the 14 session," says Rep. Wilson Stone.

One business leader asked if a special session would be called to address redistricting. Wilson Stone says that is up to the governor
