Louisville Plant Explosion

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Two employees have been injured in an apparent explosion at an industrial park in eastern Jefferson County.

Officials say the employees were using a metal rod Thursday to check a dust collector filter, apparently touching something that caused a spark and ignited a dust explosion, The Courier-Journal reported.

The workers were taken to a hospital.

Their injuries were non-life threatening, the newspaper said.

The incident happened at Universal Woods, a company that makes panels for furniture, cabinets and other uses, its website said.

Five safety violations were found during a planned inspection in 2004, but no fines were assessed.
