BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Al Baker, the longtime ambassador and face of M.E.A.L.S. Inc., has resigned as the Food Director of the program. Baker’s resignation was received by M.E.A.L.S. Inc. on December 1st and the Board of Directors was notified in a meeting at St. Joseph’s Parish on Monday night, December 5th.

Baker has helped build the nonprofit 501(c)(3) community meals organization in Warren County for the past 13 years. During his tenure as Food Director, he incorporated more churches into the program, allowing more families to receive assistance. The reach of M.E.A.L.S. Inc. has expanded exponentially during his leadership. The program now serves 240 individuals throughout Warren County each week. His experience in the food service industry made him keenly aware of how to mass produce nutritious food and the quality of the meals served improved significantly under Baker’s leadership.

Baker, age 81, contributed much to the success of M.E.A.L.S. Inc. during his tenure, according to Warren Guyer, President of the organization’s Board of Directors. “Mr. Baker has a great passion for the disadvantaged in our community and we are proud to have worked alongside him and to share in his desire to bless those in need.”

M.E.A.L.S Inc. has appointed Matt Brown as interim Food Director until a permanent replacement is found.

M.E.A.L.S. Inc. (Ministering to Everyone with Action, Love and Support) was established in Bowling Green in 1991. Twenty-two years later, with financial support and enthusiastic volunteers from 12 area churches, the organization continues to serve meals each Saturday for the veterans, elderly, disabled, and needy families in the Bowling Green community.
